Who needs a job?

Today is the day for bad news.  Roger called me around noon as I was getting ready for work.  "Now don't freak out" he says, "but I just got terminated."  Freak out??? Who, me???  The story is that his termination letter says it was because of certain (unnamed) sexual comments and inappropriate  actions in the workplace.  That's it, no more.  When he got home he called the HR department to find out what was going on, but got nowhere.   the person on the other end (who supposedly did the investigation) couldn't answer why he was never contacted.  She said that she talked to others in the office and that was enough.  Since Ohio is a work at will state, there isn't much protection for employees.  However, he did file for unemployment and we are going to find a lawyer ASAP.  I suspect that there is some anti-gay element there, but he's been with the company for almost 20 years, so it really wasn't any secret.  Someone in the office has an axe to grind and decided to make up some story.  The head of installation, who's as straight as can be, also got fired for the same reason.  I don't know what's going on, but I just hope we won't lose our house now that Roger may not be able to get unemployment.  I don't know where he's going to find another job at his age.  What a mess.
