I went to my first group piano class on Wednesday.  The good news is that there are only 3 people in the class.  The bad news is how really rusty I am.  I hope that something comes back soon, but I was really embarassed by my skill level .  On the whole, though, I had a good time and I think this will be a good incentive for me to keep practicing.

I'm delighted to hear this. I'm a firm believer that people should feel free to study piano no matter how old they are or how long it's been since they last played (if at all).

When I was a Mormon missionary in Germany I once had a landlady who was in her 60s and had decided to take piano lessons late in life. She practiced diligently and was getting to be pretty good. Ever since then I've decided that piano lessons at any age are a Good Thing.

I wish I had a quarter for every time someone has told me "my parents made me take piano but I quit after X years, and now I really wish I'd continued." I could get some laundry done. To those people I always feel like saying, "You can go back and take more lessons if you want."

Thanks Chip,
I've been meaning to go back to lessons for a long time, but I never got around to it. I do sit and play every once in a while, but then I get discouraged because my skills are so bad. The class is my incentive to persevere.
