The colonoscopy is finished. I had the nurses laughing about my romantic bowel prep by candlelight and keeping the prep solution cold by putting it on the deck since there was no refrigeration. The doctor says the results look good. He removed 5 polyps, but none were malignant. He said two might be precancerous, but now they're gone, so no problem. Next colonoscopy scheduled for three years vice six.
Bowels a'movin
Oct. 31st, 2012 06:00 pm I'm doing my bowel prep for the colonoscopy tomorrow. Unfortunately, the power is still out, so I'm prepping by candlelight. How romantic is that! The house temp is still hovering around 60, but a cold wave is supposed to come through tomorrow. If we don't have power by then, I guess we'll have to take the boys somewhere for the night. I'll cross that bridge when I need to; at the moment I have other concerns.
Power hungry
Oct. 30th, 2012 02:42 pm Our power has been out since yesterday evening. I'm at work, but Roger is home with the dogs and kitten. He's completely lost without his TV, but there's not much he can do. I'm more worried about the temperature. At the moment, it seems to have stabilized at 60 degrees, but I don't know how long that will last. I'm also scheduled for a colonoscopy on Thursday. The prep for that should be fun without electricity. At least we have hot water and gas for cooking.
new addition
Sep. 25th, 2012 07:47 pm We've added a new member to our family. We've got a new kitten. His mother was a stray who showed up at my manager's house one day and had her litter in a closet two days later. Six kittens in all. I took the only black one. I've always wanted a black cat and now is the time. The dogs are not so sure though. I think it will be a slow process, but Nemo (the new baby's name) is young and should adapt. I'm letting each dog spend some together time with Nemo separately, so as not to overwhelm him. There has been much howling from the dog cage at night, something I have never heard them do before. Whenever Nemo cries, the dogs howl, although Roger tells me that they only do it when I'm home. He has been spending about 10 minutes every hour with Nemo during the day while I'm at work, and he says the dogs don't seem to care. So I guess it must have something to do with me.
Just finished making the last of the pesto from the garden. I think the basil is just about done for this year.

Birthday time
Aug. 5th, 2012 09:29 am I'm at home recovering from my three day birthday celebration. I didn't even know I wa going to be celbrating that much. Roger and I went to the casino on my birthday on Thursday. I broke even, which I consider winning. Then on Friday, his sister had a surprise party for me, which was totally unexpected. We ended up at an internet cafe doing some more gambling. I won about $70. there, so that was another win. On Saturday, my son had another party for me, so my whole family was there. All in all, it was a pretty good way to end my week's vacation. Now back to work tomorrow.
Going home
Jul. 17th, 2012 06:55 pmElizabeth is scheduled to go home from the hospital this evening. Originally she was to go home yesterday, but her blood count was too low. They decided to give her some iron supplements to bring the red cell count up. She lost a lot of blood after the c section, and they initially wanted to give her a transfusion, but decided against it. Today they did another test, and her cell count is just below normal, so they decided to let her go. I'm sure that she'll do better at home.

the garden
May. 20th, 2012 07:55 pm
spent the day in the garden finishing some chores. got the chain saw out and cut down some heavy overgrown shrubs so that more light can get to the vegetables. Finished the trellises so I can grow the tomatoes and beans vertically. I still have some space left, so I need to get back to the nursery and buy some more plants and one more pack of netting.

court date
Mar. 13th, 2012 07:57 pm Have to be at the courthouse by 8:00 Am tomorrow for my creditor's hearing. The hearing is scheduled for 8:30, but I want to give myself some leeway in case there's a parking issue. Hopefully no one will show except my attorney, and then we can be approved and get out. I took the whole day off work so I might have a bunch of free time with Roger tomorrow.
Mike's back
Feb. 23rd, 2012 04:33 pmfound out last night that my son Mike has decided to move back from North Carolina. Apparently there are no jobs there this time of year, and he was homesick. I guess that 37 is a little too old to make the move away from home and family. He put all of his stuff in storage and took the bus back today. Just arrived back in Cleveland around 4:15. Now he has to find a way to get all of his belongings back here, because I'm not available to go on that trip again! I believe his old boss has given him his job back, so that's at least one good thing. He also has to find a place to live quickly within walking distance of his job, since he doesn't have a car. It'll be good to have him back here, but I wish he would think things through more carefully before he does them.
Dwight's gone
Feb. 14th, 2012 06:53 pm We spent the evening at the hospital after we left the attorney's office. Dwight was still breathing on his own, but his pulseox was down to 40, not a good sign. We left about 12:30 and got home around 1. We got a call at 5 AM saying that he had passed away. We knew it was coming, but it was still a jolt. The worse thing was when we found out what had happened. It wasn't his COPD or a concussion that killed him, but a freak accident. It appears that, according to the doctor, that he had gotten ill and vomited at some point around midnight Friday, but instead of expelling the vomit, he aspirated it. Because it was so corrosive, the vomit apparently destroyed one lung outright and damaged the other beyond recovery. The really sad part is that he was finally starting to come out of the slump he wnet into after Teri died. We were getting him into an assisted living facility, and had got him some new clothes. He was pretty excited about the coming changes, and then this freak accident took him. It's so sad. The last year or so was really rough for him, and he was looking forward to better times. :>(
Went to the attorneys today to sign our bankruptcy petitions. I thought it would be a hour appointment or less, but it turned out to be much longer. My attorney worked out all the numbers before i signed. I thought that I would sign and then he would prepare the proposed plan later. I guess the plan has to be complete before the plan is filed. Roger's was a piece of cake, since it was a chapter 7 and he has no income. Mine's a little more complicated, since he's my dependent now and I'm paying all of his bills. After about 3 1/2 hours the petition was ready for me to sign and it should have been filed this morning. Roger has his hearing date on 3/22, but I haven't received one yet.
